On this week's episode of Ukulele Webcam Sessions, Matt talks about scale "pockets" and how you can use them as an easy way to create solos, riffs, and licks when improvising over blues. 1. Matt,

I’m a little confused as to when you would solo using this “A pocket scale” vs using the A scale you went over in lesson 19. Can you talk about the difference and if it is advantageous to use one over the other?

Also, from a music theory perspective, what makes the notes in this pocket fit into the A blues scale?

    Many thanks!

  2. That was very well explained, you’re a great teacher Matt! It helps to grasp the concept when you call it a ‘pocket. Guess that is similar to an ‘island’ as taught by Aldrine.

    Thank you!
