Matt, I really appreciate your lessons and I appreciate what you don’t do. You don’t say “This is how it must be done.” You also don’t have a habit of making a smacking sound when you pause to inhale like so many do. It seems a small thing, but for misophonia sufferers it can make the difference between watching the video and looking elsewhere.
Thank you
I had a ton of fun listening to this video…you gave the same nail filing recommendations as 17 magazine or Cosmo! I’m learning a lot about the uke from you and this nail care video is the first time I feel like I’m ahead of the curve!
Thank you. I just grew out the nails on my strumming hand, so your video was very helpful for refining them.
Hey Matt, great video. I just received my Oasis file. I didn’t realize before I bought it what it was. So, for other’s information, it is a file broken into four sections, each section is a different level of micro paper…. Really nice.
Thanks – I just ordered a buffer and file!
I never thought about my nails having an effect on tone. Thank you for the video and tips!
Thanks for these tips! I’m struggling with short brittle nails, & thinking there was no hope to achieve the added tone nails give. You’ve given me hope! I especially like the idea of not using nail hardeners & the thoughts these products might dry out the nails, as well as the encouragement to just keep playing. I will be trying the filing and smoothing techniques you shared.
Not a nail biter, found this very informative as to nail length on strumming hand. I have an added problem, arthritis in my stumming index finger joint, so I find it at times gets too painful to strum with, and use my thumb instead, but I don’t like the sound of the nail on the thumb, so I have been keeping it very short, although I do like the longer nails on my fingers for picking and strums. Thanks for the suggestion on length .
I always wondered about this subject
Good one, I might go to a pro. a couple of times to get a good start.
I’ve been a nail biter my whole life (60+ years). I’ve had more control since I’m playing ukulele. This was a great video. I really had no idea how to take care of my nails.
Thanks for the nail care video. So practical! I Always learn new things from you. Love your teaching style and your friendly and personable presentation. I look forward to every video! Thank you.
