Learn to play "Have Yourself a Merry Little Chistmas"
Ho, Ho, How did the end of the year come upon us so quickly? For the last Uke Lesson of 2018, we're teaching you the holiday classic "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". This jazzy version of the song is aimed at advanced players. It has a whooping 13 chords, arranged in a number of chord progressions. But beginner and intermediate players can still get in on this Christmas-y goodness, by simply dropping the added chord extensions. When you remove the extensions, these "fancy" chords become a lot more recognizable. If you rather take this opportunity to dive into 7th chords, check out Essential Chords Course 2. It covers a bunch of the 7th and Major 7th chords used in this song.
As always, Aldrine teaches you the strumming pattern. It's fairly simple and uses an "open switch" which will help with transitioning between these unusual chords. He also shows you how to play a nice little melody picking that will tie it all together in a Christmas worthy bow.
A BIG mahalo to Mike Odo, who you might recognize from last December's Uke Lesson. Mike graciously appeared in the Play-Along video for "Last Christmas", and he's been a fixture in our Thursday Live Lessons, sharing his expertise in all things music related.
Stay tuned. We've got a few more awesome lessons for you before the end of the year, and we have A LOT of exciting and new content coming your way in 2019. Take your time with this tune, really master those chords and get comfortable with that strumming pattern, and of course have yourself a merry little Christmas!
