On this lesson of Songs Made Easy, you’ll learn how to play “Aloha ‘Oe“. This historic song was written by Queen Liliuokalani, the last ruling monarch of the Hawaiian kingdom. This song uses only 4 easy chords and a simple strumming pattern. Aldrine walks you through all of that and offers some pointers for transition between chords.
If you want to challenge yourself a bit more, check out our Aloha ‘Oe – Uke Lesson. It’s in a different key, but the chords and strumming pattern are still fairly easy. Aldrine also teaches you an intro that utilizes chord melodies, which just means that you’ll be able to hear the melody within the chords you’re playing. As a beginner lesson, it’s definitely within reach.

What a beautiful song. I love the play along version… she does have a wonderful voice. And I love Aldrine’s version here… also wonderfully sung and performed. I wish I new the words and their meanings, but that’s what Google is for.
Thank you for a great resource. I can’t wait to play your arrangements.
