Today was a fun day. Ran across Andrine’s “house of the Rising Sun” video and gave it a shot. The chord progression was pretty easy, even with having to learn a new note, E7. The finger picking pattern on the other hand was a nightmare. The pinky roll, with the thumb pluck, then the bottom up pick was craziness. That will take some practice.

I finished things off at night by completing the C&G Practice session and then moving on to the Key of D practice session. .

Well, have had family in town for the last week staying with us, so did not get an formal practice time. I did however spend many of the days just strumming along to the different chords I have been working on C & G for the last few days.

Today, I got right back on it and completed the Key of G speed session.

ONe thing that is consistenly throwing me off is the 150BPM, 16th note thumb picking. My thumb definitely does not move that fast!

Whew, a crazy couple of days it has been with work travel over the last few days. I bring my uke with me when I travel and of course, all of my co-workers are always asking me to play. I did play a little in front of them to get over my nerves. One thing I learned, do not leave your Uke in a hot car, ever, period. I spaced and did so and came back to what felt like 120 degrees in there. The acacia on my uke was hot and the strings were so soft. I turned up the a/c and just left it there for like 20 minutes. I put my tuner on and my strings were so out of tune by entire notes, it was scary but it is back to normal now.

Today the wife and I went out to the beach to get some relaxation and I brought my uke to keep me occupied. I wound up playing for a good 2 hours with her and I there. I worked on strumming patterns in C and also in F. I am noticing that I can pick up chords by ear on a song and recreate a few on the uke. So much fun. I also learned to play happy birthday for a family member that is coming into town.

At the end of the night I finished it off with the Key of G practice session. The new strum pattern threw me off for a few minutes, but I figured it out.

Completed the Key of C Speed Practice Session today. Skip’s are still pretty difficult as are chord changes at 150BPM. Going to spend some time practicing in the am before moving onto Day 3, Key of G Memory Practice Session.

Also, switching to Em during fast bpm sessions is challenging, but I think it was because my nails were too long and they were sliding around the fret board. We will see!

Today was a long beach day here in Seattle. I finished the day with the Key of C memory practice. Took me a second to figure out the skipping pattern but I got it.
