Keep up the great work! I like that you still try to get a little practice in with the worm no matter how short. That’s awesome! Great job on the arpeggio practice as well. Keep up the awesome!
Posting that link is fine. No worries. As far as using your pinky for the A string third fret, it’s okay as well. It’s the same finger position as if you played F7 (2313) so it’s not like you’re playing something out of the ordinary. So keep up the good work!
Our first day of private lessons went well! I saw a lot of awesome and eager faces and made a lot of progress. Looking forward to seeing the next batch of students. If you’ve taken a private lesson via UU+, tell us about your experience and give us some feedback on how we can make it better/smoother. Thanks everyone!
Glad you got to try out some of the patterns we suggested! Try to get these as consistent as possible. It’s good to keep the pattern in mind when practicing it but it’s also beneficial if you just let your hands do the work. Sometimes when we think of the pattern we get more confused and the hesitation messes the groove and the consistency of the pattern. Keep up the good work!
Good job! Chords are coming out nice and clean. I’m glad you’re using the progressions and associating them with songs. Love that you also sang the chords. Keep it up!
The roll is coming out nicely. Good exaggeration makes that roll stand out a bit more so awesome job. Just make sure the roll doesn’t take up too much time that it might make you late on the next strum. Chord progressions look clean. Keep up the good work!
Mahalo for the video! From what I can hear, the strums are coming out nice and clear. I’d love for you to step back a bit so I can see your arms to check your form. Looks like you need more of a twist in the wrist. So far so good! Keep it up!
Trying to sync those down strums to the metronome gets a bit difficult. With that said, I think you did a great job at trying to keep up with the metronome. The chord switches need a bit of smoothing out but are looking good so far. That F to G chord switch needs to be ironed out but it’s gonna come with time. Keep up the great work!
I’m here to give feedback to the videos!
Chords sound nice and clean. Especially that G chord. Easy to have it sound a bit muddy because of all the fingers needed to play the chord but yours came out nice and clean. Strumming technique is pretty good. The only thing is that the strumming pattern for that is D DU UDU. On the video you did D UD UDU. The reason why we enforce the first pattern is because it’s a consistent rhythm. There is a bit of a break after the first down strum because it’s supposed to be an up there rhythmically that we are skipping. Because we skipped the up strum, the next strum is in the rhythm is another down. So you would play D (then miss on the U) then D again, U (then miss on the D) then followed by an UDU. The misses are there so that your right hand makes like a pendulum and keeps a steady rhythm of DUDUDUDU. I can explain this further on Thursday’s live lesson if you need more help. Mahalo for the video!
Chords are coming out nicely. G is going to be a bit to get to cleanly. Good form on the strumming pattern as well. Just have to make sure you’re hitting the sweet spot of the uke. Try and relax on that pointer finger on your right hand when you strum and let the weight of your hand guide your strum like a pendulum. Keep up the good work. With more practice, it’ll get cleaner and cleaner. Mahalo!
Sorry for the long delay on my response. That usually goes away with time. Make sure that the movement mostly comes from your wrist instead of your forearm. You need only to graze the strings so see if you can find the sweet spot where youre striking the strings but grazing them only enough to make the strings vibrate. The chords sound good, just a bit of time to get to them cleanly with no hesitation. Strumming pattern sounds pretty good. Keep it up! Thanks!
It seems to slow down a bit whenever you’re switching strings. Going down the strings when you play the ascending scale is fine but when you descend and add those pull offs, there’s seems to be a bit of a hesitation and it throws off the rhythm. The exercises are usually at 90 bpm but you can probably use the free google metronome and take a bit slower for you to play the exercise clean. Try it at 75 bpm or even at 60 bpm. That way, you can focus on getting the notes clean and making usre the pull offs are on the right notes. Great that you’re focused on getting the exercises down and clean and double checking with us. Try the other exercises out as well. Keep up the great work!
Aloha Talvey! Music memorization is a bit tricky. Try it just one measure at a time 😀
Aloha Heidi! Let us know if you need any help with anything!
Aloha G! Let me know how your laptop works (or doesnt) for Redemption song. Keep jammin!
