I have been urged by many to use a metronome when practicing I would think that the type that clip to the body and vibrate, in addition to the other features, would be very useful, but never having used one, I don’t know. What has your experience been with using a metronome with your practicing? Is there a brand or model that is particularly good? What unit would you recommend? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks

I grew up playing music to a mechanical pendulum metronome… pros: very easy to use, just works reliably; cons: they’re not very portable. Nowadays I think electronic ones are far more popular, with something like the Korg MA-2 being probably a good standard that’s portable and relatively inexpensive. You could also try a free phone app and see if it works for you!

    Hey Taro,

great answer! To add on, if you google metronome, google has one built in to the search:
    Google Metronome

It seems to be relatively accurate. When I need to figure out the BPM of a song, I use this metronome:

Of course, like Taro said, there are free apps that should work just as well. Good luck James!
