MemberMy homework for week 2. This is a couple of weeks old but I’m just getting around to posting it. I’m not sure how to embed a video so I’m putting in the link.

ModeratorAloha Prattism!
Sounding good man! The quarter notes are tough and it seems like you’re a bit ahead of the beat. Keep at it and you’ll be more consistent. The eighth notes started out pretty good but I felt it rushed in the end as well. Consistency is the key to this practice. Keep at it and it’ll pay off big time in the long run! I must say that your chord switches are nice and clean. Great job! Also, don’t forget to take breaks. Practicing something like this tend to get frustrating and repetitive, so make sure you take breaks and just noodle with the ol uke and have a good time.Keep up the awesome!

ModeratorAloha MKMK909!
Thanks for the video! playing with that metronome can be pretty challenging and intimidating. What I loved about the video is that whenever you felt like it was too off beat, you just started it back up again. That was the right thing to do. Since it’s practice, you’re allowed to just stop and regain your composure and try again. What I sometimes like to do is just put on an album and just strum along to the whole thing. I just place my left hand over the strings and just see if I can follow the beat with the strums if I don’t have to worry about the chords. Because it’s a professional recording, it should be on beat and it makes it a little bit easier and bearable to practice rhythm. You’re on the right path. Keep up the great work!

MemberAloha, ya’ll! So, week 2 was challenging for me as I found out that I am awful at keeping time with the metronome. However I do know with practice it will get better. Looking forward to the feedback.

ModeratorAloha Lisee!
Trying to sync those down strums to the metronome gets a bit difficult. With that said, I think you did a great job at trying to keep up with the metronome. The chord switches need a bit of smoothing out but are looking good so far. That F to G chord switch needs to be ironed out but it’s gonna come with time. Keep up the great work!

This is my week two homework video. Thanks for the tips. I did practice making the chords “in my hand” when I was not playing. I started the basic strum course although I now see that is week 3’s lesson. I did practice with the metronome, it is pretty helpful. I can see improvement every time.
Questions: Holding the uke more securely?
My left hand feels a little stiff, any tips?
Confessions – I did not try the tuning by ear, perhaps this week! Thanks again for all your help.
