I have a 2 year old Makala Dophin – sounded good enough for me messing around with it here and there. Since starting to really focus on learning to play it properly, I’ve looked at various string options. Anything in particular I should be aware of when selecting strings for this given the plastic-ish body? I’m still shocked at how good it sounded the way it is, but I’m hoping fresh strings (after they stretch) will sound even better.
Thanks in advance! Really enjoyed the live session yesterday.
In general, I tend to recommend fluorocarbon strings, since they stretch quite rapidly and maintain a stable pitch. However, for your particular ukulele, I truly believe you can’t go wrong with Aquilas. They tend to transform the tone of affordable ukuleles and make them sound far better than they have any right to.
Best of luck! \m/
