MemberForgive me UU for I have sang. It’s been almost a month since my last post. I’ve been traveling a lot and now we’re in the holidays. The good new is that my Uke travels with me and my dexterity has gotten better and better.
I think I’m down for a Tom Petty song and a Classic picking song on 12/27 open Mic.
Multi fingering has open up all sorts of chord shapes for me that I had no clue how to do before.
I need to check in to see if there is an easier way to make Fm and pinky muting still eludes me.

MemberA word of encouragement to those reading this far into my practice log. Months ago when I joined UU a few intermediate songs I wanted to try eluded me. I now find myself being able to mechanically execute these songs and am not intimidated by them. Just a little practice and I could play them through with confidence.
Hang in there! I improve slightly each month. You will too.
Try this one if your new: https://ukuleleunderground.com/2017/02/uke-lesson-110-tonight-you-belong-to-me-steve-martin-from-the-jerk/
Come back in 6 months and try it again.

MemberAt this time, less than a year a UU, I’m willing to say I’m a solid intermediate player. I play 1-2 hours 6 days a week without fail. I’m willing to post at least once weekly if anyone is interested.

MemberI picked up a Guitar today for the first time in almost 35 years. After noodling around with it for 30 minutes it was surprising to me how much came back once I figured out the lower 3 strings. A fret board iis a fret board right?

Membertechnically an ukulele is just the bottom 4 strings a guitar with a capo on the 5th fret. That’s one of the benefits to learning to play the ukulele, Because a lot of the knowledge transfers easily to all other fretted instruments, you could easily find yourself able to play the guitar and bass once you master the ukulele.

MemberCool song. I posted up the failure song I wasn’t able to play. Thankfully attending has gotten me 2 new songs I want to learn. Allan played an awesome Classical Gas arrangement and I am sounding out his intro. Next is Stairway to Heaven, but I want to do a solo version.

MemberJust when I was getting comfortable I joined a local ukulele group. Within the group is a 70+ year old Hawaiian player with a low G tuning. Upon his encouragement I switch to a low G.
Wow!!!!!!!
The extra few deeper notes changes a lot. Do I like it? Not sure???? Some songs (playing chords) sound awesome with the low G while others sound awful.
My new Hawaiian friend is not only encouraging me to play scales but is requesting that I recite the letters as I play scales so that I can improve. He is also requesting that I play chords below the fourth fret. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mind blown
