MemberHey Guys,
you’ll probably want to get in on this Week’s challenge! For one random participant we have a signed SF Uke Fest Song Book. The book is signed by Aldrine, Aaron, Abe Lagrimas, Steven Espaniola, Craig Chee, Sarah Maisel, Cytnthia Lin and Ukulenny (Aldrine also said I would sign it, but you guys probably don’t want that). The bare requirements for this challenge is to come up with a song using F, Dm, Bb, and C. It doesn’t have to be in any particular order and it doesn’t have to have any singing or anything extra. It can just be those chords and a really simple strum. We’ll pick someone randomly, so everyone should give it a shot. If you want to enter, just upload a video of you playing those chords, and post it as a reply.
If you’re looking for more of a challenge, you can try some of these bonus conditions:
Play the chords in order of I vi IV V, so F Dm, Bb, and C
Write Lyrics
Reference actual cheese in the song
Change to another Key (F to ?)
Write about Leaving HomeThese are just additional challenges if you want to test yourself, so you won’t get an extra chance of winning if you do these, but you will get extra points in our books. We made the requirements for this challenge really easy, so hopefully we see a lot of entries. The deadline for the entries is in 3 weeks (August 29th). We’ll try to announce the winner on that Week’s Live Lesson, but you guys probably know how bad we are at keeping to the deadline. The deadline for me, Aaron and Aldrine is in 2 weeks, so watch that week’s podcast to see if we made it. Good luck everyone!
Aloha,

MemberThat’s awesome! I didn’t expect that we would have a couple of entries already, and both incorporating cheese! As soon as Aaron suggested that bonus, I thought that’s one bonus I’m not going to do. You guys already beat me. Great job!

MemberOK. So I’ve been listening since before these song challenges started and I have always told myself that I ought to give it a chance. Well, I finally made myself do it. I’ve never written a song before so be kind. It was recorded with an iphone as that’s all that I have. The song is repetitive and very simple. F Dm Bb C (as called for) twice and then Gm C. I then threw in a little walkdown of the F scale at the end. I ended up going with the “leaving home” theme and couldn’t figure out a way to work “cheese” in with leaving home. Every time I tried it just sounded…well, cheesy. 🙂 So the song is about a guy who leaves home, then leaves home again, but eventually wants to come home. So without further ado.

MemberNew experience for me. Clearly not a singer and also not a computer power user.
