Hey UUers. Where can i learn how to do this in the UU lessons. I’m currently on UU102 so it might be that I just haven’t got to it yet but I’m wanting to use it for Rude by Magic. Oh and if anyone can supply the chords in the original key of db that would also be fabulous! Thanks x

    Hey Kerry,

there’s this uke minutes on the left hand mute:

    Left Hand Mute

Matt also did a webcam session on the left hand mute:

Ukulele Webcam Sessions (Ep.57) – The Left Hand Mute

And Aldrine does cover the left hand mutes in UU102 on Week 7:

    Ukulele 102 – Week 7: Mutes & Parallel Octaves

We also have some Live Lessons were we talk about left hand and pinky mutes. You can just look up left hand mute or pinky mute. Here are a couple of them:

    [6/8/2017] Live Lesson Replay

    [3/2/2017] Live Lesson Replay

If you want to play in the original key, the chords are G Flat, A Flat, D Flat, and B Flat minor. Aldrine made the songs made easy version easier to sing by making it two parts, but in the real song, they just repeat those 4 chords over and over. You can play these chords on the uke like this:
    G Flat
    A-1
    E-2
    C-1
    G-3

    A Flat
    A-3
    E-4
    C-3
    G-5

    D Flat
    A-4
    E-1
    C-1
    G-1

    B Flat minor
    A-1
    E-1
    C-1
    G-1

The G Flat and the A Flat are played using the F chord shape with your middle and ring finger, and barring the 1st and 3rd fret with your pointer. The D Flat is played like the C chord, but you barre the 1st fret. Some people play the A string 4th fret with their pinky finger to make it easier to barre the 1st fret. The B Flat is just a straight barre on the 1st fret. I hope this helps.

    Aloha,
    -Kahai (UU Staff)
