MemberYesterday I got in an hour of solid practice before I joined the site. I was playing along with some YouTube videos I’ve been using up to this point.
Today I worked through more of the same and combined it with the first lessons in the Essential Chords Course learning the C, Am, F, and Dm chords and how to transition between them. Total time today was just over an hour again.

MemberWorking on smoother chord transitions between C, Am, F, and Dm in the Essential Chords Course. Also, spent a little time learning some very easy fingerpicking. Finished up jamming to Just The Way You Are for a while. It turns out I really like playing along with someone on a ukulele.
Total time 1 hour.

MemberToday I worked through the first lesson in Ukulele 100. That was a good primer but I didn’t get any jam time so I started working through I’m Yours which I guess is somewhat of a ukulele classic. I can’t believe how much I like playing with other folks. I’m gonna have to form a club where I live to feed this addiction.
Total practice time today was 1:40. I guess my calluses are starting to form.

MemberMore working on making my chord switches smoother and sweeter and Lesson 2 in Ukulele 100. Still playing Three Little Birds and I’m Yours. I guess those two are rites of passage for the noob.
Total time 1 hour.

MemberToday was in Lesson 3 in Ukulele 100 along with the usual smattering of jamming to Three Little Birds, I’m Yours, and Just The Way You Are. My fingers already have decent callouses built up and I can play almost as long as I want. Basically, I play until my brain begs for mercy.
Total time just over 1 hour.

MemberToday was working on some other lessons that aren’t UU. I’m trying to keep my practice consistent and fun at the same time. I worked on some blues riffs and jammed to several songs just having some fun.
Total practice time was a little over 1 hour.

MemberI used the Kala app today to just jam along with songs I already know and learned three or four new ones. My chord transitions are still rough so tomorrow it’s back to the Essential Chords Course.
Total practice time was 45 minutes.

MemberI practiced Essential Chords 1 and 2 again. I have a really hard time with the changes between the four mostly because my left-hand doesn’t anchor well yet. It’s a work in progress.
Total practice time tonight was 45 minutes.

MemberI worked on Essential Chords again but was getting frustrated with my left-hand position. I decided to just kick back and play some songs and voilà! Perfect(for me) left-hand position! I guess the lessons just make me nervous.
Total practice time 1 hour.

MemberTonight I was able to move onto the third lesson in the Essential Chords Course so I was working on G and Em. I wasn’t able to get the switching down smoothly but it’s a start!
I started out with a little jamming to get my left-hand warmed up., worked through the first three lessons in the ECC, then finished with more jamming along at the end. This is such an awesome experience!
Total practice time 1:15.

MemberMy new ukulele arrived today so I spent my practice time just getting to know it and playing a few familiar songs. I did do Lesson 5 in UU 100 so I finished that up and tomorrow I’ll move on to 101 I guess.
Total practice time 1 hour.

MemberTonight I had my first online with the person who convinced me to start this crazy journey! We did 30 minutes and worked on blues turnarounds. We shared a couple of songs to work on for the next lesson. Then I just had so much fun I sat around playing and singing for another hour.
Total practice time 1:30

MemberStill getting comfortable on the Ohana tenor so I jammed and started learning a couple of new songs. Absolutely loving the Ohana and playing the ukulele! As I was getting ready to log off I saw the Friday jam session and joined in for the last few minutes and then kept playing. I just can’ get enough!
Total practice time 1:30.

MemberI found a ukulele songbook today that seems to have been put together by my clone. It has some of the most obscure songs that are my absolute favorites!. I got so lost in it that my practice time was eaten up by my trying new songs (badly) and bookmarking them for later practice. Here’s the link if anyone ever reads this and wants to check it out.https://www.ozbcoz.com/Songs/index.php?cat=3&type=7&instr=ukulele
Total practice time 1 hour.

MemberThe dog and I socially distanced ourselves at the local dog park which is never used. He ran his butt off and I sat in the grass enjoying the sunshine and playing away. I decided my Cordoba TM15 is my “take it outside” ukulele. I’ll leave the Ohana for times when I can be pretty sure it won’t get banged up. I just played what I wanted and worked on learning some new tunes. Next week it’s back to lessons and progressing with my playing!
Total practice time 1 hour.
