Aloha from the gorgeous summers of Minnesota! This mother and daughter duo (Jenny and Penny) recently picked up their ukeles. The younger (Penny, age 8) was inspired by Grace Vanderwaal’s audition on America’s Got Talent, and the older (Jenny) is a song writer and singer and musician who wanted a portable instrument for random song writing sprees.

So the younger inspired the older to check this one off the bucket list and here we go! Look forward to growing together!

Glad you guys are taking on the journey. To be honest, learning together is one of the best ways to tackle a new skill. They’ll be helping each other along the way and growing together. That’s how I started out. I had friends like Randall (the tatooed man in the ‘Aloha Oe’ video) that I grew up learning the ukulele with. We still jam and have fun with our ukes to this day. Looking forward to seeing their progress and please feel free to reach out should you have any questions. Mahalo!

Oh wow…. my son is 12 and he is learning with me as well and attends our local ukulele club with me most Tuesdays. It’s great to have something that you enjoy doing and learning together especially when they enter the teenage years. Also my son interacts with the older generation through our club which is a fantastic way to keep him connected even if he doesn’t want to talk. We just play…!!
