Watched Ukulele 101 Week 6 Review and Q&A. Unfortunately didn’t get any playing in today. I think I’ll go washing my hands and spend a few minutes before calling it a day.

Started the essential chords lessons tonight. Did some other joyful noise making too.

More essential chords tonight. G and Em. I’ve not played Em much prior to today. I find the switching to it tricky, but again, I think muscle memory plays a role here.

More essentials chords course practice tonight. Just noticed the play-along bits and went back to the beginning to run through those. Very helpful. Jumped into some of the riff videos last night just for the heck of it. Those are also fun. Love learning knew riffs / licks.

Jazz Ukulele Warm-up with Matt Dahlberg. My hand is cramping. Need to come back to this one over and over again until I don’t suck.

Still having fun with Ukulele 101 Week 7 Chords video. Been playing around with various progressions and strumming patterns. I recognize the bones of familiar songs, but can’t exactly place them or get the rhythms exactly right. This video is one of my favorites so far, I think.

Watched Ukulele 101 – Week 8: Rhythm Ear Training today and plinked around a bit while watching. Will likely watch it again and be more deliberate about practicing the techniques.

I took 30 minutes out of my work day today, yes I’m still working during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, and sat in my sunlit backyard playing ukulele. Nothing in particular, various chords I’ve learned in recent lessons, chunking, blues riffs and scales. It was great.

Chord shape practice. Trying to land all fingers at the same time. Also picking pattern practice. GECA, GECA, chord switch, repeat.

Random playing during breaks from work today. It’s a good stress reliever to just pick up the ukulele and plink around. I pulled my old Pono off the wall, haven’t played it since I bought a Kanilea in Hawaii. The Pono just doesn’t sound as good. I tuned it up and hung it back up.

I spent some time playing various blues riffs and then figured out I could put a few of them together in combinations. Good fun.

Tonight I spent some time learning https://ukuleleunderground.com/2008/04/ukulele-lesson-4-is-there-a-place/. That one has a simple but fun picking pattern with a good sound. I’ll stick with playing that one until I feel like I have it mastered and move on to the next one.

Still working out the parts for Is There a Place. My fingers don’t move around so good. I’m getting better and I think it’s largely muscle memory and practice, practice, practice.

Still playing everyday, but haven’t been diligent about logging my practice. I’ve been going down a rabbit hole with Malegueña.
