Aloha. I grew up on the Big Island of Hawaii. There I found my love for the uke and Hawaiian music. Now I find my home in Michigan after my retirement from the United States Air Force. So here we are, let’s make music together.

Hi Curt, I am known as Nutty (or Lisa) and only joined 2 days ago.
I am in Australia and only got my very first ukulele last month.
Have mucked around with guitar for over 40 years, but this little instrument with a big personality has won my heart.

It doesn’t have to be great music, as long as it is great fun.

Hi Nutty. I too played around with a guitar off and on for years yet never got serious. Always loved the uke and got my first one last Christmas. Spent the year practicing some and really getting use to it. Started lessons formally this past November. They were ok yet I found more on the internet via youtube and such. Then I joined Ukulele Underground. What a world of difference. So very helpful. Also spending more time learning music theory. I have two ukes. Both Kala’s. One is the koa laminate (my first) and the other is solid koa. Cold and snowy here in Michigan. I imagine it’s sunny and warmer in your neck of the woods. Your right about the music doesn’t have to be good, as long as it is great fun. Aloha
