Learn to play an easy version of "Valerie" by Amy Winehouse on Ukulele
This time on Songs Made Easy, Aldrine teaches you how to play "Valerie" by Amy Winehouse. The original recording of this song was done in the key of Eb. To save you the hassle of those tricky chords, Aldrine teaches you the song in the key of C. He also shows you a simplified strumming pattern that will have you singing to Valerie in no time.
If you want to learn "Valerie" in its original Key, check out our Uke Lesson. It's still a beginner lesson, but the chords might pose a bit of a challenge. Aldrine also teaches you that catchy picking riff that plays through out the song. As two added bonuses, the Play-Along features the ever so talented Karlie G, and she throws in some improvised picking too! The Uke Lesson teaches you all of that as well as a bouncing strumming pattern.
And if you want to take things up a notch, but find the Uke Lesson a little too challenging, we play "Valerie" on our Aloha Friday Jam. You can check out this Jam Replay to play along with a version very similar to the one taught in this lesson. Aldrine play's a Cmaj7 instead of a regular C for a little extra flavor. He also plays the more involved strumming pattern taught in the Uke Lesson, but he demos a variety of different strums to suit any level of player.
