This month's Whiteboard Request features "Till There Was You", a song written by Meredith Willson for his hit Broadway show "The Music Man". In this lesson, Aldrine teaches you how to play the version of this song as covered by The Beatles. "Till There Was You" comes in with a whopping 14 chords, luckily Aldrine walks you through each one and offers some handy tips to help familiarize you with some of the more uncommon chords. Unlike the hefty chord load, the strumming pattern is fairly simple and straight forward. Aldrine also breaks down a quick picking in the beginning of the song, and demonstrates how you can stylize it. For our UU+ members, be sure to check out the list of Techniques Used to find more information and help for some of those tricky chords and techniques.

  1. As always, nicely done Aldrine! Would love it if you did a play-along for this arrangement. I’m also trying to figure out the picking part that George Harrison does in the middle of the Beatles recording of this song. If you ever get a chance to add that to your Whiteboard Request that would be amazing. In the meantime, I’ll keep trying. Thanks for your inspiration!
