Right around this time each year, time seems to speed up - with the holiday season around the corner and lots of things to do and get done, it's easy to get caught up in the shuffle. So on this month's episode of Ukulele Lessons, we're taking it slow with the hit song "What's Up?" by the 4 Non Blondes. It's got three chords (A, Bm7, and D), two strumming patterns, and a simple single-note picking so you can use your uke to slow life down.
For the Play-Along video, we brought in singer and musician, Candice Davis-Bicoy who, during filming almost destroyed our mics by virtue of her vocal power alone. For more on Candice, check out candiceandcompany.net and definitely take a listen to the Play-Along and play along with Aldrine and Candice so you can get this song down solid.
Also this month, we're giving away a brand new concert Islander Ukulele as part of our Ukulele Underground Parody Contest! Just send a photo or video of yourself dressed up as or imitating anyone from Ukulele Underground to contests(at)ukuleleunderground.com. The deadline for entry is Oct. 31st 2017, so make fun of us, send in your entries, and we'll announce the winner on the first Aloha Friday Live Jam in the month of November.
There's lots more ukulele goodness coming up here in the Underground before the year is over, including more workshops, 1-on-1 Live Coaching, and the rest of the Ukulele 102 course, so hang out and see what's going on. Keep rocking those ukes of yours, uke players, and if you have any questions we're always here to help you out!
