As many of you know, we've been holding an Aloha Friday Live Jam every Friday (1pm Hawaii Standard Time) on the Ukulele Underground YouTube Channel. It's a full hour of live music with on-screen chords so you can follow along with Aldrine, just like a virtual weekly ukulele club! Lately on the Aloha Friday Jam, we've been playing the song "I Hear Music" by the Ka'au Crater Boys - one of the greatest ukulele jams to come out of Hawaii during the 90s - and since we had yet to teach a full monthly lesson on it, we decided to make an official one as this month's lesson.
In this song, you'll be introduced to some very cool-sounding, interesting chords, the distinct Hawaiian-Reggae strumming sound, and a really awesome picking solo created by one of the modern ukulele legends, Troy Fernandez. This one isn't really for beginners, but if you have patience and determination to put in the practice, you'll be rewarded with uke skills that you'll benefit from for years to come.
Have fun with this awesome jam, and be sure to join us every Friday for the Aloha Friday Live Jam (or catch the replays on our UU YouTube Channel)!
