Hey UUers!

It's already November and we're gearing up to round out the last stretch of 2016 with a TON of really exciting ukulele tutorials and programs for you to watch, learn, and enjoy. First up, we're tackling "Friend of the Devil" by the Grateful Dead as a UU monthly lesson. We've played versions of this song before on our Aloha Friday Jams (tune in HERE every FRI at 1pm Hawaii Time), but for this one we stayed as true to the Grateful Dead version as possible. With a simple set of chords, strumming, and picking, this is a great song to warm up to, jam with a group, or learn just for fun. Try it out and let us know what you think!

In other news, last month Aldrine released his very first live webinar: Deconstructing Chord Melodies. It was a great time, with lots of excellent insights for everyone who was able to attend it live and type questions into the chat, so if you want to catch the replay, be sure to check it out in the Seminars section of UU+. We'll be doing more live workshops like this for free every month, so if you want to stay updated on when the next one will be, just sign up for the UU mailing list and we'll let you know!

Lots more ukulele surprises coming soon and all the way through the end of the year, so stay tuned and keep strummin'!

  1. I have not taken formal uke lessons, but “Friend of the Devil” finally illustrated the difference between strumming and playing chords. And it showed how the two are done simultaneously. ( Which of the Hal Leonard/Grateful Dead books uses Tabs, not just chords?
