Hey UUers!

It's been awhile since we've done a clean, simple, two-chord song for beginner uke players (the last one being, "What I Got" by Sublime back in May of last year) - so here's one for all you ukulele players who are just getting started! We've got the quirky hit song from 1979, "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)" by Rupert Holmes, as simply covered by Jack Johnson, for you to learn, jam, and play for your friends. Check out the video above to learn how to hold the chords, strum the strumming pattern, and play the picking for this song, and as always if you have any questions, we're always here to help answer them. Play along with the Play-Along, have fun with this song, & keep strummin'!

Aloha,

  1. Dude, you rock! I remember watching these videos on your site 4 years ago and just decided I wanted to pick up my ukulele again. Glad to see you’re stick making these awesome tutorials for all of your viewers 🙂

  2. I’m having trouble with using the pinkie finger to stop the vibration without changing the sound of the chord. I’ve tried barely resting it on the strings but it still changes the chord for me. Any suggestions?

    I love the solo lessons!
    Thanks,
    Janet

  3. Brand new here,
    Easy to follow along…
So next question would be, are there the words to songs on this site? Are there the tabs to the leads or actual sheet music to the melodies?
    thanks..

    1. Hey lululori!

Under each lesson video, there is a link to a Play-Along video where Aldrine plays through the entire song on ukulele – all of the lyrics are there – along with on-screen diagrams of the chords for you to follow and play along with. Check them out and let us know what you think!
