WTF My Login Doesn’t Work
If you are having problems logging in, it’s probably our fault. Here’s the deal.
When we started UU 3 years ago, we chose two web software to power our website, WordPress to handle the content management and vBulletin for the community/forum. As the years progressed, both companies began rolling out features that made the other redundant. WordPress began integrating community features and vBulletin began implementing publishing features. The latest version of UU has the latest versions of both WordPress (now with Buddypress) and vBulletin.
The problem is that WordPress and vBulletin do not work with each other so if you were an old school user who participated in the forum, you’ll need to create a new login for the new login box on the front page. Also, if you’re new and you just registered through the front page, you’ll need to create a new account if you want to join the forum discussion.
We know this is super confusing but its the best we could do with our limited resources. Sorry, we’ll try to figure out a way to make it less confusing (but I really don’t know if its possible)
So…
Q. Why did you guys even do this? Kind of dumb if you ask me…
A. Basically we have some new ideas and projects we want to roll out eventually that wordpress was the better option. We needed to integrate its login though which is what created the redundant and confusing login boxes. Also, we noticed there were a lot of people who never visit the forum (not everyone is a forum guy /gal), we wanted to give these people a way to connect and interact as well.
Q. Do I need 2 accounts?
A. Not really. If you liked the forum and still use daily. You don’t really need a new front page account unless we roll out some new that you find interesting or if you want to comment on the posts.
Q. I still don’t like it….Say you’re sorry!
A. Sorry. Hopefully we can one day make it up to you.
