Hey UUers!

The summer has come and passed & we’re now headed headlong into fall! September is here and with it, a brand new episode of Uke Lessons – this time it’s Green Day’s “Good Riddance” (aka “Time of Your Life). It’s a pretty simple one, with an easy picking pattern that you can play throughout the song, so try it out and have fun with it!

Special THANKS to UU’s own UCB, who helped us out with some last minute videos that really made the Play-Along awesome. If you haven’t seen Green Day’s original music video for “Good Riddance”, watch it first (and you’ll understand why the Play-Along was done the way it was ). This song has got a pretty sweet picking pattern that runs all the way through it so try it out, play along with the Play-Along, and let us know what you think!

The Eleuke “Uke Rock!” Contest is now officially over. High Fives all around to everyone who participated – we got some really awesome entries for this one. The judges will be reviewing all of the videos and we should have the winners soon, so stay tuned for the announcement. Well hello there UUers!

Wow, July is here already! Can you believe it? In this month’s lesson, Aldrine breaks down “Rodeo Clowns” by Jack Johnson (with a play-along with UU’s very own russ_buss)!

This month UU is giving you another awesome opportunity to win free ukuleles! This time Eleuke USA gave us 4 ukuleles to give away to four lucky contestants to their Eleuke “Uke Rock!” Contest! It’s June and the new episode of Uke Lessons has arrived – just in time for your summer strumming pleasure! This time we had the amazing fortune of joining forces with upcoming artist, Justin James. His song “Perfect Sometimes” has been all over the airwaves here in Hawaii (soon to blow up a radio station near you!) and we couldn’t think of a better way to kick off the summer than this feel-good island hit.

It’s the 1st day of a brand new month and that means a fresh NEW episode of Uke Lessons! This month, we dug deep just for you and put together a song that recently, everyone has been asking about – “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz! The song has only been out for a short while, but already it has gotten a LOT of buzz (no doubt, this Mraz character is going to make it big). Aldrine just did a quick cover of the song, posted on a site called YouTube.com, and it has been viewed over 250 times so far!

It’s the first of the month (Happy February to you), and that means a brand new episode of Uke Lessons! We’re breaking it down with an ukulele instrumental version of Carlos Santana’s, Europa. It’s quick, it’s dirty, it’s even got a space for you to improv your very own solo in D minor. Scha-weet! It’s been awhile since the last time we did an instrumental piece, so try it out and let us know what you think.

February is also the official month of the Ukulele Underground Award Show (“The Undies!”), where we celebrate your favorite ukulele videos of the past year. Yay! We’ll also be giving away a TON of stuff during the show, so keep an eye on the front page for the date and time, so you can tune in to watch & win!

It’s the first episode of Uke Lessons for the new year and we’re bringing the heat with an Eric Clapton classic, “Change The World”, featuring the vocal stylings of our very own tsud123! This one is a little tougher than usual but we know you’re up to the challenge. Practice the fingerings, chord changes, and picking and you’ll have another Clapton hit under your belt in a flash!
