Why2ki is sick and missed a Beatles cover band show; so what does he do? Pick up the uke, play a Beatles tune, and have a cover concert of his own. The result? This week’s (and the last of 2009) MVOW with his rendition of “Nowhere man” by The Beatles. This kid is an optimistic fella who turned to his 4 stringed friend and transformed his room to his very own concert hall. Crazy? Yes, crazy AWESOME.

The year is coming to a close. Just a few more days and boxes of fireworks and it’s 2010. Time flies by so quickly doesn’t it? Seems like only yesterday we had our first UU Open mic, or uke give away, or UU Undies. None of which would have been possible if it wasn’t for ALL OF YOU! So thanks once again for everything. You guys are awesome possum (yes, possums are highly awesome… not just cause it rhymes) From all of us, to all of you; HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The Wine Country Ukulele Festival was amazing, especially because we got to jam with lots of really cool people (seriously, really cool: Watch this epic throwdown of “Breezin’” featuring Aldrine, Dominator, Kalei Gamiao, and Brittni Paiva!). Special thanks to Russ & Trina, plus everyone who met up with us in St. Helena & San Francisco! We had a blasty-blast.

*ALSO* This January (19th), Aldrine will be in Long Beach for one night only! So if you live in that area or if you’re going to be close by, please stop by and meet up with us!

diPiazza’s Restaurant and Lounge
(5205 E. Pacific Coast Hwy, Long Beach, CA 90804)
January 19th, 2010 (7pm)

Aldrine will be performing along with Three Hour Tour (featuring UU’s own ukecantdothat) and the Barefoot Wahines (featuring UU’s own salukulady). So mark your calendars – it’s going to be crazy-awesome!

Only 6 more days until the new year, so be sure to rock what’s left of 2009 out of your uke and get it set to strum out a wonderful 2010!

Aloha UU’ers!

We’re gonna take a break this week from all the holiday video madness and bring you something JUST AS AWESOME as unwrapping your holiday gifts. This week we have Iernon playing TWO ukulele’s in his awesome rendition of “Dueling banjos” in this case, “Dueling ukulele’s” yep, it’s that old knee-slapping happy tune. He rocks out DUAL SCREEN style. Just. Awesome.

We hope you guys have a safe holiday this season! We love you all and wanna let you guys know that we really appreciate everything you’ve done for us this year. It’s been a little over 2 years and we watched our little community grow and it’s all thanks to YOU GUYS. You folks are the best presents EVAR. Complete with frilly ribbons and bows.

Much aloha to everyone who is a part of UU!

This week on MVOW we got a nice little holiday arrangement from thejumpingflea and his rendition of “Frosty the snowman

Nice and upbeat with lots of chord movements make us shiver, not from the cold, but from the awesomeness that seems to ooze out of this young man’s ukulele. Kind of makes you wanna grab your uke and make a holiday arrangement of your own eh? Do so, and share it with us on the FORUMS. We love watching new talent and old recurring awesomeness.

This is shaping up to be an awesome week. Hope you guys are bundled up for the cold weather. We here in Hawaii feel your pain. Have an awesome week!

Hey UUers!

Here it is – the final installment (for now) in Dominator’s instructional tablature series! This time, Dom goes over the D.S. and D.C. notations, as well as the al Coda and al Fine designations in tabs musical direction.

Also, be sure to check out Dominator’s all new video tutorial for
“The Christmas Song” on his website, www.dominator.ukeland.com!

** Remember ** for those of you in the US Mainland, This Tuesday (Dec. 15th) is the last day to order stuff from the UU Store with guaranteed delivery by Christmas. Check out the store and spread the ukulele cheer!

Hope you’re bundling up and staying warm by strumming beside the fireplace (or for our AU and NZ viewers, keeping cool by rocking your uke under the comforting breeze of the air conditioner)! Either way, play your heart out and have a very happy holiday season!
