This week on MVOW we got chrisg14mac jammin with his AWESOME musically inclined daughters. The Hooka chukka’d their way onto this weeks MVOW with their version of BJ Thomas’ “Hooked on a Feeling”

This video hooks you in from the first ukulele strum and “Hooka Chukka” to the last chord in the end. One of his daughters even jumps on bass and rocks the bassline. What a wonderful way to spend time with your family. Let’s use this as an example and gather round our corale of relatives and get together for a jam. PERFECT timing to get into the holiday spirit. Jam on ukulele fam bam!

Ukulele tabs are a great resource for uke players trying to learn pickings or instrumental pieces on the ukulele. About a year ago, we asked our pal Dominator to explain how to read tabs and some basic tab notation to get you started. But in more advanced tab sheets, it’s pretty easy to get lost in all the notation.

First of all we’d like to apologize for the site being down earlier. Seems like a gremlin came and messed with our internets. But now that the internets is back on track, we bring you and AWESOME cover from an AWESOME member with an AWESOME new channel! Russ_Buss takes on ALL songs by Weezer and tackling them with his ukulele. Cleverly naming his new channel “Weezeruke” “My name is Jonas” is the first video on his quest.

That’s a tall order considering the amount of songs that Weezer has put out. He’s willing to go through albums in the order of their release and tracks. Bold move sir. We take our hats off you. Check out the forums and wish him some good luck!

Great news! Earlier this week we had the excellent fortune of catching Joe Souza at the Kanile’a Ukulele Factory in Kaneohe while he was installing a Mi-Si “Acoustic Trio” pickup into one of his Kanile’a ukes – and he let us film him! So naturally, we decided to throw it up on UU as soon as possible, so all y’alls can check it out and get some insight into what goes on during a professional pickup installation.

This week we have our very own UKISOCIETY taking on a challenge by LeoHareMusic to use the La Folia chord progression. He took that challenge and took out the heavy artillery of a fully loaded purple Makala soprano. This guy meant business. “House of the rising sun” never sounded so awesome as it did coming out of that one holed, one dolphined, four stringed, purple music eater. I guess we’re a week and a half late for that joke huh?

So let’s celebrate the start of another awesome week by grabbing our own heavy artillery and go tackle some music. Make sure to show us your progress by posting it on the FORUM. Go out there my ukulele brothers! FOR UKULELE UNDERGROUND!
