“The Legend of the Ohana Ukulele” Give-Away Contest WINNER!

Posted September 5th, 2009

Hey UUers!

It took awhile, but after poring over every legend, reading into every nuance, every allusion, every obscure reference – we finally decided upon the winner for our August “Legend of the Ohana Ukulele” Give-Away Contest!

The winner is … drumroll please … smithpaul60!

Long ago, when gods still walked among us, men spoke with music. During this time there was a beautiful young lady who didn’t have a voice. She was the most beautiful and there were many young men who courted her. However, her muteness prevented marriage as consent was given by song the evening before the wedding.

One young man, drawn by her heart, was more determined than the rest and knew that the solution was to find her a voice. He had learned woodworking from his father and knew the beautiful sound of the wood his father worked with. He also knew that the strings his mother sewed with could be stretched to make musical notes.

So he built her a voice. He made it petite, with a long slender neck and a curvy feminine body. He made it out of the most beautiful wood he could find and shined and polished it showing it the utmost care and love.
He presented it to her with these words, “I built this with knowledge of my father, patience from my mother, and love for you. Please join my Ohana.” She sang beautifully that night and was married the next day.

If you see smithpaul60 around in the Underground, be sure to give him a hearty pat on the back and congratulate him on is award winning legend! We’ll be sending him a brand new Ohana SK-35 G soprano ukulele (+ hardshell case) for him to play merrily. If you didn’t win this time, don’t fret, we’ve got many more contests and chances for you to win coming up! (And if you’d rather not wait for another contest to get your hands on a new Ohana uke, check out www.ohanaukuleles.com).

Hope your weekend is something spectacular!

Aloha,
-UU Staff
