This week our MVOW comes from bongofury and his rendition of Ahe Lau Makani.

Simply great and clean fingerpicking on this song. Watch as he glides his fingers all over that fretboard. Bongofury has some great content on his YouTube channel that displays his amazing finger work. Check out his rendition of Bob Marley’s “Stir it up” as he plays the strum, bass line, and melody all at the same time. So go comment, subscribe, and favorite if you guys haven’t already.

DONT FORGET!

Today is the last day to get your entries in for “The legend of Ohana ukulele” contest. Simply write a short story with 200 words or less that tells us YOUR legend of Ohana ukulele. Then post your entry on THIS THREAD and BAM! You’re entered to win yourself a brand new soprano Ohana ukulele. Awesome possum? You betcha.

Spice up your recipe for an awesome week with a dash of ukulele and a hint of UU. Guaranteed delicious.

Hey UUers!

A long, long time ago, a darkened David Carradine-esque Aldrine showed you the amazingly simple “In-to-Out” finger picking technique (Uke Minutes 11). Now we’re kickin’ it up notch – check out the Advanced Finger Picking Pattern I and take your fingerpicking to the next level!

It’s actually a pretty simple pattern; just work a little on the timing, start off slow and gain speed at your own pace, and you should have a pretty nice finger picking pattern for any occasion. And if you’ve got questions, let us know!

*Remember* This month we’re giving away a brand new Ohana SK-35 G soprano ukulele to a lucky UUer who enters our “Legend of the Ohana Ukulele” Contest! If you haven’t entered yet, what are you waiting for?? Check out this official thread, submit your story, & sign yourself up to win!

Have a craazy-awesome Saturday & keep rocking that uke!

This week on MVOW we feature a very familiar face on the UU community. Deach gives his his ukulele rendition of the classic “Dracula’s lament” from the film “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” complete with a Dracula getup.

We love seeing the progress that people make throughout their stay here on UU. Deach has gone through great heights from his first video. Throughout the year he’s put out entertaining videos using costumes and also written a bunch of original material. A well deserved MVOW goes out to Deach.

Summer is winding down and fall is almost upon us. So savor the last sips of that summer drink and accompany it with some sweet ukulele melodies. Have a week.

Hey UUers!

So, today while we were working our way back through the videos posted in the Forum during the last week, we clicked on a thread called “Who Was The One (Original)” and BOOM. We found ourselves the MVOW.

Click on the video above. Do it.

Honestly guys, this kid Jarren (JYUkulele in the Forum and on YT) deserves a LOT more views. Comment on his vids, rate him, subscribe to his stuff – and hopefully he’ll keep playing and singing and writing, so that we can keep watching him and his awesomeness.

Hope your day totally rocks! Grab that uke of yours and write something epic.

Got questions about this episode? Post them HERE!

Hey UUers!

It’s Saturday again and another Uke Minutes is here for you to devour and digest! Since we’ve been talking a lot about blues, here’s an easy way of creating solos over the Basic Blues Progression that we showed you in Uke Minutes 51 (“Blues Ukulele Chords“) and Uke Minutes 56 (“12-Bar Blues“).

Because this specific blues progression uses only 7th chords, you can choose from the notes in the alternate 7th shapes as a quick way of creating solos. In fact, choosing notes from alternate fingering positions for any chord that you are playing is a great way to come up with solos for anything. In combination with your Minor Pentatonic Scale or Blues Scale, you’ll be whipping up your own blues licks like a pro!

And as always, if you’ve got any questions, you know where to find us. Have fun and keep rocking that uke!
