In this week’s episode of Uke Minutes, we tackle the explanation of Major Chords. Building on last week’s explanation of Major Scales, once you’ve figured out the major scale for a certain note, you can easily find the major chord that goes along with it by playing the 1, 3, and 5 together … simultaneously (and at the same time, too).

Kicking off our “Basic Music Theory” series, in this week’s episode of Uke Minutes Aldrine goes over how to figure out major scales on your ukulele. Learn the pattern, so you can figure out the major scale for any note! Then begin the intricate, infinite courtship with your ukulele’s fretboard, to unlock the secrets of her long and inviting neck region.

This weeks MVOW snuck in at the last minute. Jimi Hendrix has been the flavor of the month amongst the UU staff and when facemeltingukulele (Jason Arimoto) posted his cover of Little Wing, he grabbed, nay, snatched the V.O.W. honors away from another forum member. “Give me that!” *snatch*

Once again, keep posting your videos in the forum. It doesn’t have to be in the VOW thread, it can be in the videos and links board too. We love seeing the submissions from all over the world.

There are so many things that have happened/ are happening I thought I’d just post a quick update.

Ukulele Underground San Diego Meet up

NukeDOC (a.k.a. Arvin) organized the first ever Ukulele Underground Meet up and it took place this past weekend in San Diego. There was a great turn out and it looks like everyone there had a good time. Thanks Nuke for setting it up! Hope to see UU meetups all over the world!
